AWAQU PROJECT FILE :: reFOCUS
Safari focus and local observation

reFOCUS

Make distracting browsing more deliberate, keep passing thoughts locally, and observe selected site use alongside RoutineMaxx.

PROJECT UPDATE:

reFOCUS is a Safari extension built around scheduled focus and a small, private place to save thoughts. It now also connects selected browsing observations to the RoutineMaxx Mac companion.

What It Does

Scheduled Focus

Choose days, hours, and affected websites. Focus schedules support overnight periods and redirect distracting browsing to awaqu.org.

Void Shouts

Save passing thoughts as local drafts in the Safari popup. Nothing is posted to a social feed.

YouTube Playback

An optional control applies automatic double-speed playback on YouTube.

Optional Browsing Estimates

With explicit opt-in in both apps, send observations for selected hostnames to RoutineMaxx on the same Mac. Focus restrictions remain independent of these observations.

Local Data and Deliberate Choices

The browsing connection is designed to record selected hostnames and timing information locally. It does not send page paths, queries, titles, page contents, typed input, browsing history, or Void Shouts to RoutineMaxx. Private and unknown tab states are excluded by the capture logic.

The default measure requires foreground browsing and recent input. The newer development build adds an explicitly selected foreground-presence mode that can include passive reading or viewing. Neither measure proves attention or video playback, and gaps are not reconstructed.

RoutineMaxx provides retention choices, deletion, and deliberate exports. The Mac consumer must be running for observations to accumulate. Private-window, idle, sleep, profile, and retention behavior still require device acceptance for the latest paired builds.

Project Status

AreaCurrent State
Safari extensionScheduled focus, local drafts, and YouTube speed controls are implemented.
RoutineMaxx connectionBasic Safari-to-Mac delivery has been confirmed in use. Browsing capture is macOS-only and requires macOS 15 or later.
Latest development buildVersion 1.4.0 is packaged with indexed browsing storage, optional foreground-presence measurement, diagnostics, and paired Mac exports. The documented installed version remains 1.3.2; the newer paired builds await installation and device testing.
ValidationAutomated logic checks and development builds passed in the project records. That does not establish all real-device privacy and lifecycle behavior.
AvailabilityLocal development and personal use; no public download is offered here.

Next Steps

Validate the paired Mac and extension builds, establish a useful observation baseline, and refine how browsing patterns are presented. Earned browsing time, task-based rewards, and automatic site unlocks are not implemented.
